IoT (Internet of things) is the technology that connects everyday objects to the Internet, allowing us to gain intelligence and autonomy. Thanks to the proliferation of “cloud” technologies, all data is stored in the cloud.
IoT IN THE ELEVATOR
IoT in the elevator brings safety, reliability and efficiency. It allows any device (lights, doors, piped music, screens, etc.) to stop being an isolated element within the building and to be connected with its environment to interact with the rest of the elements of the property, promoting new services and functionalities that Elevator maintenance houses will be able to offer their clients.
COMMUNICATION AND EMERGENCY SYSTEMS
New IoT communication technologies allow the elevator to be connected with the building’s emergency sensors, serving as a link to communicate events to the corresponding receiving agents, as well as providing real-time information to users through LCD screens or Push notifications. In addition, in the event of entrapment, it would allow the vital status of the occupants to be monitored until rescue.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE MODELS
One of the improvements that the IoT provides to the elevator world is preventive and predictive remote maintenance. If we store all the information that the elevator devices segregate through connectivity and that data were processed, models of elevator behaviour would be created. With these models it is possible, among other functionalities, to foresee when a technical failure of the system is going to occur, to compare events that have occurred in the diagnosis of rare and intermittent faults between similar elevators or to reduce costs in maintenance and time.
Today, our Liftcom IoT and Liftcom PLUS devices have features and functions that make the future present, already offering that preventive and predictive remote maintenance. These products inform the maintainer in real time when a breakdown or anomaly occurs, allowing the creation of a history and contrasting the behaviour of the different elevators in the maintainer’s current fleet. In addition to offering, in most cases, a definition of the fault code and its possible causes, giving the possibility of remote access to total control of the Lift controller.
