Analyzing the EN 81-28
In the following article we will explain how the elevator alarm system works and its regulation through the EN 81-28 standard. In addition, you can find a guide to the regulations with the basic aspects for compliance and how our Liftcom two-way communication system does it.
How does the elevator communication system work in an entrapment?
The first step the user must take in the event of entrapment is to press the emergency button (9) for at least four seconds. This button will activate an audible alarm to alert the trapped that the call has been initiated. At the same time, the alarm system (3) makes a voice call to the elevator maintenance company or to the call center (1), and will contact the trapped user. In addition, this system will also be supported by visual signals (8), the yellow color will indicate the start of the alarm and the green color will indicate that communication has been established. The following are the conditions for the visual signals:
Communication establishment: yellow signal activated and green signal deactivated.
Start of voice communication: yellow signal activated and green signal activated.
End of voice communication: yellow signal activated and green signal deactivated.
End of alarm: yellow signal off and green signal off.
